Thank you for taking time to visit, and I hope I am even a tiny bit helpful as I have been helped and blessed by so many others. I have been doing Calligraphy since teens, and card making for many years as well. In 1990 I delighted in the joys of stamping with ink and embossing after a trip to Cairns, Qld. In 2009 I discovered the brayer, 2010 the Cuttlebug, also have now taking to reading up on crafting blogs and lo! Here I am, on one of my own.

I live on the coast of eastern Australia. I am a Christian. I trusted in the LORD down here at the beach, amazingly it is not far from where I now live. It was over 50 years ago, after a Beach Mission Service at the age of 12 years

Scrappy Mo's Christmas + Butterfly + Snippety Challenge

Well, today is ANZAC day here in Australia and New Zealand as it is 25th April..
ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps.

Australia and New Zealand both had a baptism of fire, under fire as new nations for the first time in 1915 at Gallipolli, current day Turkey.
In WW1 Australia and New Zealand, two small emerging nations. lost 80,00 men and had over 200,00 casualties, a total of 280,000 lives taken or never then same again - families decimated by it all.
That's why we say together:
"In the morning,
And at the going down of the sun,
We will remember them.
Lest we forget."
On the 25th of the month, pop over at Scrappy Mo's Christmas card challenge - aka Rudolph day (until 30th April) over here! Here is my very snippety offering ( so joining Di's Snippets challenge for this and cards below).{will just have to work out which card am going to enter they all had snippets, but can only enter one..}
DP on back are two snippets from Christmas bonbons, colours silver one and one gold, embossed with CB Holly Ribbons 5x 7" EF. The red card is all snippets, side border die is a disc one, the verse on SB Labels 4 Fleur de Lis was done last year(s) ago, verse from Christmas card - on my desk last week as re-found it!
At Mrs A's Butterly challenge it is T is Teal and texture.. now I love both tea and texture so had to join in. Needed couple of cards too. These are made with  "There she goes clear stamps" set and masked off gebras or daisies on two of the snippetty square. Here am using London Fog and Teal Zeal by Memento to dust the edges. Then a used nail polish to give more texture and shone to flowers then masked them off and sprayed the background with slimmer mist to give extra pop.
Finished card. Use Sizzix textile EF, and snippets of teal to mount the squar-ish flower pieces. Couple of requisite butterflies and pearls and snippet of SU ribbon in gorgeous teal colour.  I actually made this card because of Miss' card a week ago with a stamp of gerbra or daisies too made me look these out!

Mm, this image is bit indistinct, sorry - however it's a bit of a flop at stencil work with Gilding flakes. Butterfly is MB Vivienne in teal snippet. Greeting is formatted digi image.
I do love the card in spite of the poor stenciling.. if you want to see a real pro with this, see Loll's card.. this was my inspiration!! brilliant, eh?
(1. think my fine MB stencil is part of issue possibly and 2. glue or method of glue application is different.
I
am going to ask Loll how *she applied it and what glue she used. *Loll used a sponge lightly - I used a brush, but not sure on glue yet)

This is my first effort with flakes, have had them for six months but been hesitant to use them.

Think jumped in at deep end with them, perhaps :D
Bottom of card had one of ODB Beautiful borders embossed on it it for more texture but am tempted to add the border itself die cut instead, not sure.. side panels are embossed with Swiss dots EF for more texture again!
To the Aussie shots as wont be blogging again this week:
This is a mystery plant seen again on our icecream drive, on a Friday this week, not Sunday! Suspect it is an exotic plant and not a native. These were truly Christmas like, deep red and velvety. Looked in vain online for an idea??
In the centre of this photo below, in the distance, is this pelican and yellow warning sign floating. Warning boaties of troublesome sea weeds growing under surface of water, would clog any propeller.
This is looking west to the Great Dividing range.. over that line of distant hills is the mountain range. A gorgeous autumnal day downunder!
I want to apologise first of all am behind in commenting...
God willing, I will catch up later this week but trying to take a wee bloggie break for a week so maybe not till next week if I run out of time, however for each of your comments is truly appreciated.

Well, I'm delighted to welcome a new wonderful encourager ..
Lesley of Grenouille Greetings
You will learn much from this clever crafter.. a pleasure to visit..
Thanks so very much for popping over!

WOYWW + Snippets Card Our Daily Bread

Mm, running a tad late for WOYWW as having computer issues with Windows Update. I pray it will be sorted.. its back in the too hard basket for moment.
WOYWW or What is on your workdesk Wednesday over here ..at our Julia's of the Stamping Ground!
To my desk this morning:
Was busy this morning - on homeward run with a card. Sharpie blue pen was there 'cos used it to colour the bright turquoise ribbon threaded though the ODBD Beautiful borders.
Blue Spellbinder fancy Label 8 was done two years ago for my sister's card and not used. Stamped a verse on it, now getting ready to die cut (front centre piece) MB Pippi butterfly and Nellie Snellen fanciful flourish dies.
The red framed piece near Monkey's hand is a Christmas verse found yesterday; thought it would be good for Scrappy Mo's Rudolph Challenge on Anzac day 25th (to 30th April).
Well, this is new part to my desk. Kinda home made looking, but is my wee shelf set, for which I've looked everywhere!!  Gave up and made it myself from a free sturdy box, cut to size, covered it with stash glue and paper, attached it with freebie bulldog clips - so for free I have a wee three shelf topper on my wee set of drawers at the back of my desk. Can display some things and store all those weenie things you need so often. Also have my home made tape tower to the left.

"Nellie Snellen Fanciful Flourish Small" die cut, inked it up with Versafine Majestic Blue, and embossed in Iridescent EP. Did the same with MB Pippi Butterfly
Completed card, for friend with recent surgery for cancer, hence why I chose Stampendous great stamp of Psalm 91:1. DP was snippet, as were all the other elements including the peach card base. Flowers are Impression Obsession - Bunch of Blossoms. Starting point was the centre die cut - pity it wasn't teal as would enter it into Mrs A's Butterfly challenge with is T for Teal and texture this fortnight.

Now for the Aussie shots today .. last weekend we watched some of the *Grom Surfing competition on our local beach. *Surf Groms are aged between 5 to 12 years so these are very young surfers .. only managed few mediocre shots.

These silver gulls were amusing we thought on our icecream drive.. all in unison (almost) preening their feathers, enjoying the very stiff wind that was blowing on this southern beach break.

Thanks so very much for popping over!
Please say hi - to let me know you've been by!

Bizzy Bec's "Darkoom Door Gumtrees" Tutorial Male card

Hi everyone - another mid month post with a tutorial another mid month post with a tutoriall for Bizzy Bec's store blog, with a monthly challenge with a die or stamp prize over here!
It is anything goes and is posted worldwide - so do join in please do!
Here is a step by step guide on making a male card - for my dad's birthday recently.
Key to brayer work is a light and gentle hand, ie dont attack the paper but caress it.
Always build up a light base layer for any good blending of any inks, in any medium - then add the depth of colour, once the first layer has dried.
The base colour helps smooth out all other layers. I always brayer on smooth junk mail - the soft smooth surface helps in blending

Here I am starting off with good glossy cardstock, a brayer, and dye inks: Memento Bahama Blue, Grape seed + Adirondack Peach Bellini, dont have that colour in Memento. I have post + video with Brayer basics, so if you are new to it this is very good place to start.
Tab at top of my blog, also see this link here.
Here have torn a rough edge with scrap of paper and sponging it with
On a long snippet of cream (cut to size) added Distress inks as shown (Bec's DI here) with ink blending tool Salty Ocean, Antique Linen and Dusty Concord
(any idea why on earth a purple is called this?)
Embossed a cream piece of card with Sizzix Dot Matrix EF, added Salty ocean + Antique linen mixed randomly rubbing over the embossing.
(Stamps used on top narrow piece are an old single leaf stamp, embossed in black ink, Hero Arts Background Envelope pattern S5507 + in DI Rusty Hinge SU French script background.)
Assembled
the pieces together and added bit of twine to overlap them.
Used Xcut rectangle scallop dies for the border, as dont have a plan scallop border die. I just do half then move it along matching it up. As you do when you extend a die see "how to enlarge/ extend post" here.

SB Marvellous Squares die cut in black snippet.
Cut into four, then trimmed down as shown to make corners.

Greeting is digi, with hand cut banner.

I really loved this card, the Darkroom door stamps were so great to stamp with, as were the two new inks I used, Memento Bahama Blue and Grape seed.
The "Peaceful" word stamp is part of the
Darkroom Door – Gum Trees set.

Thanks so much everyone for popping over and saying hi!
And may God bless your day wherever you may be!
...and dont forget to pop over and join in Bec's Anything Goes April challenge .. you might win the prize :D

WOYWW + ODBD Challenge

Flying in with really quick post - pickies? plenty - yes Words - not too much!
Its WOYWW or What is on your workdesk Wednesday over here ..at our Julia's of the Stamping Ground!
To my desk this morning:
Well, it is moderately tidy considering I am mid card! You cant actually see it, 'cos it is hid under the white sheet at very front right. It has new item from today's mail on top of it.  The card is for a birthday next month, might also use it DT post.
BTW love the Cottage Cutz stitched ovals, was able to get them very reasonably (for Oz) from Bizzy Bec's ..they fit perfectly onto most of my Spellbinder fancy ovals ones, here am using it (see test die cuts at front with blue peg on top of it) from SB Elegant Ovals.
Loved this since it came out, has underneath the "prayers" die too, to match it - so many lovely cards with this set and cant wait to use it..
My desk last Friday, used SB Fancy ovals with the Cottage Cutz stitched ovals.. dusted in a combination of picked raspberry and dusty concord DI. This was an order, my friend love turquoise and purple, she wanted this verse (which I love) from Romans 12:12 -
“Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”
Recipe:

ODBD Beautiful borders, SB Petite scallop ovals, ODB Rose Stamp layered on dimensionals, CB Vintage Corners (disc.), digi rose paper by Donna of Bearly My designs.
To the Aussie shots - when out with dad for Sunday icecream drive, we found a new spot or "not-in-years" visited one! looks inviting doesn't it?
.. this is the hill we came down, with the beautiful growth all around.
This is what it opened up into - the creek, and goes out to sea in far distance. It is good fishing spot apparently as you see below .. a canoeist!

WOYWW + Using Homemade Gelli Plate or Jelly pad

Hullo there everyone... desky share time!  So join us in Deskland over at Julia's "Stamping Ground" blog  for "What is On Your Workdesk Wednesday"!
Here is my desk this morning as it is late evening here in Oz now .. very boring actually.
Sorry to those who like to see monkeys I've cut their heads off, and naughty monkey on left has lost his WOYWW badge, its actually upside down underneath the red top of the tacky glue, top right.
Tip: I keep all my glues lying down like that. Then they dont get clogged as easily, same for glimmer mists - a tip which was sent from Joanna Sheen when I inquired years back. It helps immensely. Current detritus and relatively clean state was from card and calligraphy piece just finished. Actually put most things away last night. Poppy grass die however is from two cards ago, none of these items can be shared till received.
This was my desk .. or one of the desks in craft room last week - on Wednesday, and that was why no WOYWW post for last week!

Here is the fold out table which use for overflow - since had some of the younger generation here to craft, was pulled it out. My desk is standing one and too high for a four (Emily) and six year old (Thomas) .. we had made some jelly plate background and dried them and stamped on them. Also embossed some background and this is very last stage; am cutting up gold card for the greeting die, which they've chosen for their cards. They have made two cards each!
Here they are rolling the die through.. Emily is turning the handle, Thomas did his, and dad steadied the Cuttlebug while they turned the handle. We spent the morning on the beach at the jetty before coming back for craft!

Background: Made with bubble wrap and paint from jelly pad.
The background on cards were all made with the jelly pad .. or gelli plate, the hand made recipe I posted back here on May 29, 2013, remember? here is the recipe in case you want it.. this is the same gelli pad, I made three years ago .. with two imperfections one I did on first day (with finger nail), but dont seem to affect it at all. I just store in this plastic container in a cupboard.

Other backgrounds made. The less distinct one are second generation prints, cleaning paint off the pad. (Brayer the ink around the pad to smooth the squeezed out paint colours.)

Now to the two Aussie shots - taken by my sister, Robyn in Oz down on the south coast of NSW.
Blue winged Kingfisher or kookaburra.. yes in gum tree! with a beautifully hollow burl right in the centre of image - the native animals will love that burl!
A summer sunrise.
Thanks so very much everyone for popping over to say hi, for commenting even when I dont get around as much as I would like, I do aim to catch up...

May God bless your day where you may be... and happy WOYWW everyone!
